Get ready for an exciting Student Staff Field Day, where student staff across buildings come together for a day filled with fun events, games, team bonding, and recognition! This event is open to all student staff, and each building is invited to create a team of 4 staff members, plus 2 alternates (who must also be student staff). Don’t worry if you can’t gather a full team of four—you can join as a free agent and be matched with others to form a complete team!

Field day is a chance to grow and compete as a team! It’s important to review the following general rules as we get started.
1. Respect for teammates, opponents, and officials is mandatory
2. Officials have the final call on every event and point awarded
3. Unsportsmanlike conduct is unacceptable and will result in disqualification of your team
4. Encourage and cheer on all participants
5. All events will run by the discretion of the official for that event
6. All Safety rules must be followed for each event
7. Have fun and enjoy yourself!
Shot put is an event that provides participants with an opportunity to hurl an old duty phone as far as they can. The throwing motion is often referred to as the “put.” The goal of this event is to hurl a duty phone as far as you can by throwing the duty phone and remaining in the circle. The phone that goes the furthest wins.
This game requires 4 team members to participate.
Rules
If any rules are broken during the event, the team will forfeit that turn
Players must remain within the circle during their throw
Each player will get 1 throw and has 30 seconds to complete their turn
This game is scored by individuals and points go towards respective teams
If a duty phone lands outside of the marked areas, it will be considered a foul and will not be counted and that players turn is over
Land the duty phone inside a hula-hoop to earn extra points!
How to Win
The player with the furthest throw/put wins First Place followed by next furthest, etc.
The Classic Tug-A-War event matches will be completed best of three formats. Participants will need to beat the competition and win the match by winning at least two of the three pulls. The goal of this event is to get the flag labeled on the rope to cross onto your side and over the line.
This game required 4 members to participate.
Rules:
Each team must have 5 members to compete
The flag that crosses the corresponding team line wins that match signaled by facilitator
The rope must be pulled under the arm, and no elbows must go below the knee, otherwise a foul will be called
Best out of Three wins the match; this will continue via the listed bracket at the end of this section to determine winners
How to Win
Best 2 out of 3 win the match and move on to the next round. Each winner of each round will get 2 extra points towards the overall points.
This will be a single elimination bracket style event. Bracket will be shared day of!
The pipeline provides participants an opportunity to plan and communicate as a team and to learn how to overcome difficulties together. The goal of this event is to move the ball from the starting line to the finish line using only the materials provided. The fastest team to complete the event wins followed by the order thereafter.
This game requires 4 team members to participate.
Rules
If any rules are broken during the event, the team will have to restart at the starting line
You may only use the materials provided to you from the facilitator
The ball may not touch the ground at any time; should the ball touch the ground, you must restart at the starting line
No one may touch the ball at any time once it enters the designated pipeline
Each person must be involved in the process of moving the ball
Team members are only permitted to touch their pipeline only and may not touch others
How to Win
The goal is to be the fastest team to cross the finish line
To win the game, you must successfully make it from Point A to Point B
The Cup Stack relay is a fun, competitive team game that combines speed, coordination, and teamwork. The fastest team to complete the event wins followed by the order thereafter.
This game requires 4 team members to participate.
Rules
1 Player from each team will go at a time
You are to stack the cups up and take them down after the official approved the stack
The next player will sit down and do repeat the above steps
This will continue until all 4 players complete the rotation
How to Win
Fastest team relay time wins 10 points, followed by second fastest team time, etc.
The Puzzle Relay is a fun, competitive team game that combines speed, coordination, and teamwork. The fastest team to complete the event wins followed by the order thereafter.
This game requires 4 team members to participate.
Rules
1 Player from each team will go at a time
You are to only place 1 piece at a time and 1 player per time
If more than 1 player is active on board, a 1 second plenty will be added to the team’s time. This includes more than 1 player at time, improper rotation, and any other violation witnessed by an official.
How to Win
Fastest team relay time wins 10 points, followed by second fastest team time, etc.
The Water Balloon Toss is a fun, engaging event that encourages teamwork, communication, and coordination. The objective is for teams to successfully toss and catch a water balloon without breaking it, progressing further with each successful catch. The team that can throw and catch the most balloons without breaking any wins!
This game requires 2 players.
Rules
Teams must start at the designated starting line
Participants can only use their hands to toss and catch the water balloons
After each successful catch, teams must take a step back, increasing the distance for the next toss
If the balloon breaks during a toss or catch, the team must retrieve a new balloon and start again from the starting line
Teams are encouraged to communicate with each other to coordinate each throw and catch, but shouting at other teams and disruptive behavior is not allowed
Each round will have a time limit of 5 minutes. Teams must try to maximize their successful catches within the time limit.
How to Win
Teams earn a maximum of 10 points. Each successful catch awards the team 1 point in addition
A successful catch is where the balloon is caught without breaking.
The team that reaches 10 points first in each round will compete in a bracket style until the final winner is awarded.
The Dodgeball Showdown is an exhilarating event that fosters teamwork, strategy, and agility. The objective is to eliminate players from the opposing team by hitting them with a dodgeball while avoiding being hit yourself. The last team standing wins!
This game requires 4 players
Rules
Each team must consist of 5 players with 1 alternate
The game will be played in a rectangle marked off on the field. The boundaries must be respected.
Teams will begin on their respective backline.
Each match will last for 10 minutes, or until one team is fully eliminated.
Players will be eliminated if:
They are hit by a thrown ball (below the shoulders)
An opponent catches a ball they threw
They step out of bounds
If a player catches a ball, one teammate who has been eliminated can re-enter the game
A player who is hit in the head is not considered out
How to Win
The objective is to eliminate all players from the opposing team. The team to do so first wins the game.
In addition to winning a match, teams can earn points for each player they eliminate. Each elimination is worth 1 point.
If a team wins a match, they earn up to 2 additional points.
The team with the highest total points across all matches will win the game.
Place per game
First Place: 10 Points
Second Place: 8 Points
Third Place: 5 Points
Fourth Place: 3 Points
Fifth Place: 1 Point
*Additional points can be earned in each game as well as Match Points. This will be explained prior to each game.
